A useful fit for

A buyer who wants the full-size 2621-20 M18 SAWZALL and values the exact one-battery kit with multi-voltage charger, carrying case and blade.

The main tradeoff

The package is distinct from 2621-20 tool-only. Exact saw sources do not establish motor type, adjustable shoe, orbital mode, work light, hook, bare-tool weight or length; no independent cutting, vibration, runtime or durability testing was performed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

What does 2621-21 add over the 2621-20 tool-only saw?

Milwaukee’s exact -21 page lists the 2621-20 saw, one 48-11-1828 XC extended-capacity battery, a 48-59-1812 M18/M12 charger, carrying case and one blade. The exact 2621-20 page lists the saw alone. Verify the full suffix and seller’s written contents.

Can the 2621-21 be confirmed for an adjustable shoe or orbital cutting?

The exact 2621-20 product page and operator manual reviewed do not establish either feature. A shoe or tool-free blade clamp does not prove adjustment or orbital action; leave those requirements unconfirmed unless exact documentation supports them.

Does a published bare-tool weight answer a strict limit for the 2621-21?

The exact 2621-20 page and manual reviewed do not state a bare-tool weight. A kit photo or a different M18 saw’s weight cannot fill that gap, so no numeric limit is confirmed by these sources.

A kit built around the 2621-20 saw

The Milwaukee 2621-21 is not a new saw mechanism beside the 2621-20. Milwaukee's exact kit page names one 2621-20 M18 SAWZALL as the tool in the box, then adds a battery, charger, carrying case and blade. That makes the -21 a materially different purchase configuration even though its cutting head is the same documented full-size machine. The distinction matters if an online listing borrows a kit photo for a bare-tool title, or if you already own M18 batteries and are deciding whether this package adds useful equipment.

The included saw is a conventional full-size, two-handed cordless reciprocating saw, not the compact one-handed HACKZALL format. Its exact operator manual gives an 18-volt M18 supply, a no-load range of 0–3,000 strokes per minute and a 1-1/8-inch stroke. Those figures describe the machine's stated operating range; they do not establish how quickly it will cut a particular pipe, board or fastener, or how long the included battery will last in a particular job.

What the suffix buys you

Milwaukee's package list names one M18 REDLITHIUM XC extended-capacity battery, part 48-11-1828; one M18/M12 multi-voltage charger, 48-59-1812; a carrying case; and one blade, alongside the 2621-20 saw. The product page does not quantify the battery's capacity in that list, so this assessment does not translate its older XC label into an assumed amp-hour rating. A single included battery is a starting arrangement, not a claim of uninterrupted work: users with repeated cuts may still need to plan charging, rotation or a second compatible pack.

This is distinct from the 2621-20 tool-only SKU, whose exact manufacturer page lists the saw alone, and from the 2821-22 FUEL kit, whose page lists a different brushless saw and two XC5.0 batteries. The 2621-21 should therefore be compared by its actual box contents and base saw identity, not by another M18 kit's battery count, motor description or case. The manufacturer listing also includes a blade, but it does not identify a blade model or application in the kit list; choose a blade for the material and cut rather than assume the included one suits every task.

Blade changes and workpiece contact

The 2621-20 manual describes a lever-operated QUIK-LOK blade clamp for 1/2-inch universal-shank SAWZALL blades. It directs the operator to remove the battery before changing the blade, check that the blade is fully secured, and use a blade no shorter than 3-1/2 inches. The blade must extend beyond both the shoe and the workpiece through the stroke. Keep the shoe in contact with supported material; an unsupported blade can flex, bind or break, regardless of the saw's listed no-load speed.

For a blind or plunge cut, the manual warns the user to check for concealed electrical wiring, gas piping and water lines. The kit does not make those risks easier to see. Secure the workpiece, use eye and other task-appropriate protective equipment, and follow the complete manual for the material and setup. The exact sources identify the clamp as tool-free and list a counterbalance mechanism as a manufacturer feature, but do not provide independent cut, vibration, durability or comfort testing. The maker's vibration language should be read as a design claim rather than a measured outcome.

Where the comparison is useful

The 2621-21 is a reasonable package to investigate when the intended tool is specifically the full-size 2621-20 and a battery, charger, case and blade are all useful. Its package is more complete than the tool-only 2621-20, but it does not become a FUEL brushless model or gain the documented adjustable shoe and selectable orbital action listed for the 2722-20. The exact 2621-20 sources do not establish an adjustable shoe, orbital selector, work light, hook, motor type, bare-tool weight or overall length. Those omissions matter if a feature is non-negotiable.

The practical comparison is not simply “kit versus no kit.” Someone already invested in M18 may prefer to compare the price and contents of the tool-only SKU against the kit's exact part numbers and included case; someone starting without a compatible battery arrangement may value the included battery and charger. No price or present retailer availability is assessed here. Confirm that a seller's label is 2621-21, not 2621-20, 2621-22 or a mixed bundle, and read the seller's written contents before purchase.

Fit and limits

The strongest documented fit is a buyer who wants a full-size cordless reciprocating saw on M18 and needs a one-battery, charger-and-case package. The 1-1/8-inch stroke and 0–3,000 no-load range provide a clear specification basis for comparing it with other saws, but neither is a substitute for blade choice, work support or technique. The included battery is not a promise of a particular number of cuts, and the bare-tool weight is not reported in the sources reviewed.

This assessment is based on Milwaukee's exact package page, the 2621-20 operator manual and related exact model pages. No hands-on use, ownership, cutting test, weight measurement or vibration measurement was conducted. If a numeric weight limit, adjustable shoe, orbital mode or a specific battery capacity is essential, obtain exact documentation for the particular tool and package instead of inferring it from a neighboring SAWZALL kit.
