Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Which battery and charger come with DCS384WW1?
The exact DEWALT page lists one DCB2108 8Ah 20V MAX XR battery and one DCB1106 charger with the DCS384 saw and a wood-cutting blade. It does not list a bag in its included-items list; verify the full WW1 suffix and exact seller package.
Explore this need in the finder →How does DCS384WW1 differ from DCS384B?
The two exact pages describe the same DCS384 brushless saw mechanism and published cutting features. DCS384B is tool-only with a blade and no battery or charger; WW1 includes one DCB2108 8Ah pack and DCB1106 charger. The 7.7 lb figure is tool-only weight, while the WW1 page separately reports 14.5 lb assembled-product weight.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I rely on the advertised 102 cuts per charge?
DEWALT states up to 102 cuts per charge in 2x12 pine using a DW4802 blade and the DCB2108 battery. That is a manufacturer claim under named conditions, not a guarantee for another material, blade, work pattern or battery condition; the kit does include the named DCB2108 pack.
Explore this need in the finder →The DCS384 saw in a one-battery POWERPACK kit
DCS384WW1 is the kit configuration of the same 20V MAX XR brushless DCS384 reciprocating saw assessed separately as DCS384B. DEWALT’s exact U.S. page lists the saw, one DCB2108 20V MAX XR 8Ah battery, one DCB1106 charger and one wood-cutting reciprocating-saw blade. The B page lists the saw and blade only and says the battery and charger are sold separately. The WW1 suffix therefore changes the supplied system, not the saw’s published stroke, trigger, clamp or shoe. No kit bag is listed on the exact page’s “Includes” section, so this assessment does not promise one based on another retailer’s bundle or image.
The manufacturer page describes a brushless motor, 1-1/8-inch stroke, variable-speed trigger up to 3,000 SPM no-load, pivoting shoe, keyless lever-action clamp, counterbalance mechanism and LED. DEWALT calls it its fastest-cutting 20V MAX reciprocating saw and states up to 102 cuts per charge in 2x12 pine using a DW4802 blade and DCB2108 battery. That claim is specific to the named material, blade and pack. It is not a guaranteed count for a different blade, wood, metal, nail load, cutting technique or battery condition, and this review does not claim to reproduce it.
Package contents are not the same as the carry setup
The included 8Ah pack is the clearest reason to compare this kit with the B tool-only package: a compatible battery and charger arrive with the saw. The pack model and capacity are specified, and the charger model is also named, which makes it easier to compare with equipment already owned. The exact page’s assembled-product data lists 14.5 pounds and 20.8 inches; the sell sheet identifies the saw itself at 7.7 pounds tool-only and 17.6 inches tool length. These figures use different bases and must not be treated as a measured battery-on tool weight or the same length dimension. If carry load, vehicle storage or overhead use is central, verify the actual package and the saw-plus-pack setup rather than substituting one field for another.
The manufacturer’s up-to-102-cuts statement names the DCB2108 pack, but it should not be translated into a number of hours on a job. Cut count varies with blade condition and type, wood and fastener content, pressure, work support, temperature and duty cycle. The kit also includes only one specified wood-cutting blade in the page list; buyers may need a different blade for metal, pipe or a different tooth pattern. The E1 compact DEWALT kit is a very different format and comes with a much smaller-capacity battery; this WW1 is a full-size two-handed saw intended for a different handling task.
How the saw is meant to be set up
The DCS384 manual calls for a firm two-handed grip and says to keep the pivoting shoe against the material whenever possible. A shoe is a support and contact point, not a clamp. Fix the workpiece securely, maintain blade clearance beyond the shoe and the workpiece for the entire stroke, and inspect the cut path for hidden services before plunge or blind cuts. The manual discusses blade choice and backing thin sheet metal to help control vibration and tearing. It also warns against holding the shoe while cutting. Remove the battery before changing blades or making adjustments, then check that the lever-action clamp has secured the blade.
The counterbalance mechanism is described as being designed to limit vibration, but it does not guarantee a vibration-free cut or remove the need for safe handling. The LED is for illuminating the immediate work area. TOOL CONNECT readiness requires the separate DCE042 chip; do not assume that tracking is active in the box. The 3,000 SPM figure is a no-load maximum, not a measured speed under cutting load. A pivoting shoe and variable trigger do not establish orbital action, which the exact reviewed materials do not document. A brushless motor and capacity claim are also not evidence of a particular cut in the buyer’s material.
Who should compare DCS384WW1?
This kit is worth comparing when you want the DCS384’s full-size two-handed configuration and need a named 8Ah DEWALT 20V MAX battery and DCB1106 charger included. If those components are already on hand, the DCS384B bare-tool package avoids the duplicated kit items. If a compact body, lower tool-only weight or one-handed form is more important, use the finder and read those exact models’ grip and weight evidence instead of assuming this saw will fit a tight access job. Check the WW1 suffix, DCB2108 capacity, DCB1106 charger, blade type, seller contents and warranty terms before buying. This source-based assessment makes no hands-on or measured-performance claim. See the exact DCS384WW1 page and its linked manual.
